Are there any ‘hidden’ fees?

We hate hidden fees just as much as you do. All orders within our delivery area are dropped off or picked up for free. For those outside our standard delivery area, we add a small delivery/pick up fee to cover the additional cost of labor and fuel. Can I change the drop-off or pick-up dates after I’ve placed my order?

Absolutely! We know moving doesn’t always go according to plan. To help make it easier on you, we’re having to adjust your drop-off or pickup date at no additional charge. We request at least 24 hour notice for schedule changes so we can adjust our drivers’ schedules. (NOTE: if your rental extends past the rental period, you will incur charges for the additional rental time).

Can I pick up the boxes at your warehouse instead of having them delivered?

Unfortunately, no. Our drivers are busy all day making deliveries, so the warehouse does not always have a staff member present to help.

Do I have to be home all day waiting for my delivery?

No! When you order with us you’ll select a preferred 2 hour delivery window. We will confirm all the details via a confirmation e-mail and give you a phone call the day before your delivery or pickup. Our drivers do their absolute best to show up when we promise or will call you to let you know what’s going on. Moving is hard enough, let us help relieve some of your stress. With GreenBox, there are no surprises!

Do I need to be home for delivery/pick-up?

Not necessarily, but we do need an adult over the age of 18 to be home in order to sign for the boxes. Our delivery windows are typically 2 hours, so we won’t keep you waiting all day like the internet install guy. If your building has a concierge that is equipped to receive and sign for deliveries on your behalf, we’d be happy to leave it with them.

How do I know how many boxes to order?

For residential clients, we’ve assembled suggested packages based on feedback from previous clients. We’ve found that these packages meet the needs of the majority of our clients. If you think you may need more than the packages offer, you can add boxes to your order upon check-out.

How quickly can you get boxes to me?

Its best to schedule your delivery and pickup as soon as you know your moving plans so you can secure the day and time slot you want. But we understand that moving can be unpredictable and we strive to accommodate your busy schedule. If you need same-day delivery, please give our office a call and we will do our best to get the boxes to you on short notice. Please be advised that there is a $25 rush delivery fee for same-day deliveries.

I have professional movers. Can I still use GreenBox?

Yes! Professional movers love our boxes because of their uniform size, strength, ease of stacking, and general durability. We are happy to recommend movers.

I’ve heard that you hire refugees as GreenBox teammates. What’s that about?

Its true! We’ve partnered with the local IRC office to give refugees a chance to find meaningful employment as they settle into their new lives in the Bay Area. All of our drivers have been licensed in the US for over a year and have completed additional professional driver training. Feel free to ask our teammates about their home countries!

Is GreenBox only for residential moves or can I use for commercial moving as well?

For commercial orders, please complete a quote request or call our reservation desk.  Each commercial job is a custom quote, and we have daily, weekly and monthly pricing available.

Packing is more than just moving boxes and dollies. Do you sell packing material?

Yes! Check out our packaging store where you can buy all the materials you’ll need for an easy move – from dishpacks, to bubble wrap and packing paper. You can also rent additional dollies or furniture blankets. There’s no delivery fee when added to a box rental package. And since we love the environment, we’ve done our best to source packing supplies that are eco-friendly and reduce waste.

What happens if a box or other rental items are destroyed or damaged during the move?

We understand that stuff happens. You’ll be responsible for the replacement cost ($30 per box, $70 per wardrobe box, and $120 per dolly).

What happens if I need to cancel my order?

We know that plans change unexpectedly. If you let us know at least 48 hours in advance that you will not need the boxes, you will get a full refund. That’s right – 100% money back. Otherwise, there’s a 20% restocking fee (these boxes could have been used by someone else if we hadn’t set them aside for you).

What if I need more boxes after delivery?

If you need more boxes after delivery, just give us a call and we’ll get them delivered to you. Additional deliveries are charged at $29/delivery and can be delivered as early as the next day.

What if I need the boxes longer than a week?

No worries! We understand that moving takes time. You can always extend your rental period. Our rentals and rental extensions are priced per week. If you do need to extend your rental period, we request at least 24 hour notice for schedule changes so we can adjust our drivers’ schedules.

What products and services do you offer?

We rent 100% recyclable plastic boxes in multiple sizes, wardrobe boxes, and dollies.  Labels and security ties are included with the rental. We also sell packing supplies that can be conveniently delivered with your rental equipment. Delivery and pickup in our standard delivery area is free. Delivery outside of our standard delivery area can be arranged for a nominal fee.

Why is GreenBox better than getting used cardboard boxes for free?

Previously used cardboard boxes are cheaper and better for the environment than using new cardboard boxes. But you still might not want to put your personal belongings in them. Old boxes could have been sitting in storage for a long time, exposing the boxes to rodents and insects (like bed bugs); or they could have gotten damp, allowing bacteria and mold to grow. We don’t even want to know what’s that sticky goop in the corner. Gross. Plus, the time and fuel you waste trekking across town to get those used boxes takes away from more important things you could be doing.

Will you pack and move my stuff?

We don’t want to take away all the fun of moving! Our staff is focused on deliveries and not equipped to manage packing. Feel free to reach out if you’d like a referral to a great moving company.
